This 4 position SMD DIP switch is a surface mount configuration switch used to set hardware level options on a printed circuit board. Each of the four independent slide actuators toggles one single pole single throw contact, which lets the board carry a static address, a mode selection, a baud rate setting or a calibration option without any firmware involvement and without a connector.
The switch is built for machine assembly. The body is moulded from high temperature thermoplastic so it survives reflow soldering, the terminals are gull wing formed for reliable solder fillet inspection, and the contact system uses gold plated copper alloy to keep contact resistance low and stable over the life of the equipment. The top surface is flat and sealable, which allows the assembled board to go through automated pick and place, reflow and aqueous cleaning as one process.
In industrial equipment the value of a DIP switch is not the switch itself but the field serviceability it provides. A technician can change a node address or a machine mode on site with a screwdriver tip, with no programmer, no cable and no software tool. That is why this component still appears in controllers, drives and instrumentation where uptime and simple field maintenance matter.
The product is built to order. Number of positions, pitch, actuator style, terminal form, sealing level and marking are all defined against the customer requirement.

Gold plated contact system. Gold over nickel on both the contact and the terminal keeps contact resistance low and resists oxidation, which matters because a DIP switch usually carries a logic level signal rather than a real load current. A corroded contact on a signal line does not fail loudly, it fails intermittently, and gold plating is the direct defence against that.
Reflow ready construction. The high temperature housing and the sealed top surface allow the part to pass through standard lead free reflow without deformation and without flux ingress into the contact cavity.
Gull wing terminals. The formed lead provides a visible, inspectable solder fillet and absorbs board flex and thermal expansion, which improves joint reliability compared with flat terminals in equipment that sees temperature cycling or vibration.
Positive detent action. Each actuator has a defined tactile detent, so the operator can feel the state change and the actuator will not drift under vibration.
Washable option. A fully sealed version is available for boards that require aqueous cleaning after reflow, removing the need for a separate manual configuration step later in the assembly line.
Tape and reel packaging. Supplied on reel for direct loading into pick and place equipment, which keeps the part compatible with a fully automated SMT line.
Flexible configuration. Position count from 1 to 12, standard or half pitch, raised or recessed actuator, and custom top marking are all available.
Typical functions include setting a device address on a shared bus, selecting a communication baud rate, enabling or disabling a hardware feature, choosing between operating modes, and locking a calibration or service setting.
