KS225 Toroidal PFC Inductor – Common Mode & Boost Choke for PV Inverters, EV Chargers and UPS

The Chipsen KS225 PFC inductor is a toroidal power choke designed for power factor correction (PFC) and boost stages in high-efficiency switching power systems. It uses a closed toroidal magnetic core with an evenly distributed single-layer winding of pure copper wire, delivering low DCR, low leakage flux and a controlled temperature rise under continuous load. The winding is fixed on an epoxy-potted base with rigid through-hole pins, so the component stays mechanically stable on the PCB under vibration and shock — a key requirement for solar inverters, EV chargers and industrial drives.

KS225 is built to order (MTO): inductance, current rating, wire gauge, core material and pin layout are customized to your circuit and can be delivered against your drawing or a reverse-engineered sample.

Q1: What is a PFC inductor used for?
A PFC inductor stores and releases energy in the boost stage of a power factor correction circuit, shaping the input current to follow the AC voltage waveform. This raises the power factor, lowers harmonic distortion (THD) and helps the equipment meet grid and EMC requirements.
Q2: Can KS225 be customized to my inductance and current?
Yes. Inductance, rated/saturation current, core material, wire gauge, number of turns, pin pitch and base type are all customizable. Send your specification, schematic or a physical sample and we will issue a drawing for confirmation.
Q3: Why a toroidal core instead of an EE/EI core?
A closed toroidal core has no air gap in the main flux path, so leakage flux and radiated EMI are much lower than a gapped EE/EI structure. This usually means less shielding effort and easier EMC compliance in inverter and charger designs.
Q4: Is the winding pure copper?
Yes, pure copper wire is used as standard — no copper-clad aluminium. Litz wire is available for high-frequency designs where AC copper loss must be minimized.
Q5: What is the sample and mass production lead time?
Drawings are provided within 3 days and samples within about 7 days after specification is confirmed. Mass production lead time depends on quantity and material — please contact us with your target volume and schedule.
