Answer: The primary advantage lies in the Mean Length per Turn (MLT) and wire integrity. Because the copper wire follows a circular path around the ETD49's round limb, the MLT is shortened by up to 15% compared to a square post of equivalent area. This leads to significantly lower DC Resistance (DCR) and reduced copper losses (I2R). Furthermore, the absence of sharp corners eliminates mechanical stress on the wire insulation during high-tension winding, which is critical when using thick copper foils or Litz wires in high-current industrial designs.
Technical FAQ 2: What is the estimated power throughput of an ETD49 transformer in an LLC Resonant topology compared to a standard Flyback converter at 100kHz?
Answer: Topology choice has a drastic impact on the ETD49's capacity. In a Flyback converter, where energy is stored in the core, the ETD49 is typically rated for 300W to 400W due to core saturation and heat dissipation limits. However, in an LLC Resonant or Full-Bridge topology, where energy is transferred directly, the ETD49 can comfortably handle 500W to 800W+.
