Vertical Mount Toroidal Common Mode Choke Inductor - 4 Pin Through Hole EMI Filter Coil
Product Introduction
This vertical mount toroidal common mode choke is a dual-winding EMI suppression inductor built on a high permeability ferrite toroidal core, with two symmetrical windings wound in opposite directions and terminated on a flame retardant 4-pin plastic base for through hole PCB mounting.
The working principle is straightforward: differential mode current (your useful signal or power current) flows through the two windings in opposite directions, so the magnetic flux cancels and the choke presents almost no impedance to it. Common mode noise current, however, flows through both windings in the same direction, so the flux adds up and the choke presents very high impedance, blocking the noise before it reaches the power line or the load. The result is clean conducted emission performance without sacrificing power transfer efficiency.
The green epoxy coated toroidal core provides mechanical protection and a reinforced insulation barrier between the core and the enameled copper windings. Two different wire colors are used for the two windings to make polarity identification and automated assembly easier on the production line. The rigid base keeps the core stable under vibration and guarantees a consistent standoff height on the PCB, which is critical for wave soldering and for maintaining creepage distance in AC line applications.
The component is fully customizable. Core size, permeability, inductance value, wire gauge, number of turns, pin pitch, base dimensions and insulation class can all be engineered to match your circuit topology, your target attenuation curve and your safety approval requirements. Every unit is 100% tested for inductance, DC resistance, hi-pot withstanding voltage and open/short continuity before packing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Are you a factory or a trading company?
A1: We are a manufacturer with our own facility. DongGuan Chipsen Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. operates a 10,000 square meter self-owned production base in Changping Town, Dongguan, Guangdong, China, with 8 complete production lines. You are welcome to visit or arrange a video factory tour.
Q2: What is your minimum order quantity?
A2: The standard MOQ is 1,000 pcs. For a first cooperation or a trial build we can discuss a smaller pilot quantity, and the exact figure depends on the complexity of the customized structure.
Q3: Can you make this common mode choke to our own specification?
A3: Yes, customization is our core business. Send us your required common mode inductance, rated current, working voltage, target attenuation band, pin pitch and maximum allowed dimensions, or simply send your drawing or a sample. Our engineering team will propose a core size, permeability and winding scheme, and confirm every parameter with you before tooling.
Q4: What certifications do you hold?
A4: System certification includes ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Product certification includes CE, CB, UL, cUL and RoHS. If your destination market requires an additional local approval, tell us early and we will help evaluate the feasibility and the schedule.
Q5: How long does sampling and mass production take?
A5: Samples are normally ready in about 7 to 10 working days after the specification is confirmed, and mass production typically runs about 15 to 25 days after sample approval and order confirmation. The exact lead time is quoted per order, because it depends on quantity, wire gauge availability and whether new tooling is needed.
Q6: What payment terms do you accept?
A6: We accept T/T (bank transfer), PayPal and Western Union. T/T is normally used for production orders and PayPal or Western Union is convenient for sample orders and small value payments. Payment terms are confirmed on the proforma invoice before production starts.
Q7: How do you control quality?
A7: We run a three stage control system: incoming material inspection, in-process control during winding and assembly, and final testing. Every single unit is tested for inductance, DC resistance, hi-pot withstanding voltage and open/short continuity, and appearance and dimensions are inspected by sampling according to AQL standard. A 20-person QC team is responsible for the whole chain.
Q8: How should I choose the right common mode inductance value?
A8: It depends on where your conducted emission test fails. If you exceed the limit in the low frequency band, from 150 kHz to about 2 MHz, a higher inductance with high permeability material is usually needed. If the problem sits in the high frequency band, a lower inductance with fewer turns and lower parasitic capacitance normally works better. Send us your EMI scan report and we will recommend a specific configuration instead of asking you to guess.
Q9: Which shipping terms and methods do you support?
A9: We support EXW, FOB, CIF, DDU and DDP. Small samples usually go by international express, and bulk orders go by air or sea depending on your urgency and volume. All goods ship directly from our factory in China. Please note that we do not operate an overseas warehouse and we do not offer dropshipping service.
Q10: What if the parts do not meet the agreed specification?
A10: Contact us with the batch information, the test conditions and the measured data. We will replicate the test on our side against the retained sample from the same batch. If the deviation is confirmed to be our responsibility, we will arrange replacement or credit and issue a corrective action report explaining the root cause and the preventive measure.
Q11: Can you provide technical documents for our safety approval?
A11: Yes. We can supply the product specification sheet, material list, RoHS and REACH declarations, and relevant certification documents. For safety file submission we also provide insulation system details and winding construction information as required.
Q12: Do you support long term supply agreements and stock planning?
A12: Yes. For customers with stable annual demand we can arrange a blanket order with scheduled releases, which shortens the effective lead time and protects you from material price fluctuation during the agreed period.
